NOTE FROM THE EDITOR
In all the surveys we’ve done of business and education partnership leaders, the thing we hear most often is that there’s a need for professional development in this underserved field. We started to address that issue last year, with the Effective Education Partnerships Conference (see here for archive), but unfortunately were not able to hold this event in 2009 – the decimation of travel budgets among school, district, and partner organizations alike made it unlikely that a large enough group would be able to attend.
We finally realized – if you can’t travel to a national conference, then it’s up to us to travel to you. That’s why I’m teaming up with Jim Collogan, executive director of the National School Foundation Association (www.schoolfoundations.org), to host training events in selected cities this September.
Titled “Finding New Resources for Your School or District,” this full-day workshop will cover the essentials of building community/school partnerships and creating and managing high-performing foundations. We’ll be in the following cities in September:
- Fort Lauderdale , FL – September 10
- Arlington , VA – September 17
- Edison , NJ – September 24
Go here to learn all the details.
We’re still working on selecting sites for October and November; if you think there’s a need in your area for such an event, let me know and we’ll look at adding it to the schedule.
Best,
Brett
