The El Dorado Education Foundation (EDEF) is a non-profit organization which exists to help promote and provide academic excellence within the El Dorado Public Schools.
In the past nine years, via Teacher Grants, the foundation has awarded over $465,000 to educators who submit projects to enhance hands-on learning in their classrooms.
The El Dorado Education Foundation also has partnered with the El Dorado Public School District to help establish what is believed to be the nation’s first public school endowed chair program. The three chairs oversee the study of elementary and secondary mathematics, science, and foreign language, to help prepare local students for the challenges of a 21-century world.
EDEF also sponsors annual Teacher Excellence Awards, which honor the performance of outstanding district educators with recognition and monetary awards.
Additionally, in cooperation with local churches and others, it co-sponsors a summer faith-based math camp, which, in regards to school performance, helps underperforming junior high and high school students realize and reach their potential.
