New Partnership Resources

The Afterschool Alliance has unveiled STEM Learning in Afterschool: An Analysis of Impact and Outcomes. This document summarizes the research base around three primary outcomes, including improved attitudes towards STEM fields and careers, increased STEM knowledge and skills, and the higher likelihood of graduation and pursuing a STEM career. (September 2011)

The Educational Testing Service (ETS) has just released The Mission of the High School: A New Consensus of the Purposes of Public Education? The document looks at the founding purposes of secondary education, current thinking on the subject, and offers thoughts on resolving the two. (September 2011)

Public Impact has released a PowerPoint presentation titled Fixing Failing Schools: Building Family and Community Demand for Dramatic Change, which offers a step-by-step practical strategy for engaging and activating community members to support major changes in your schools. (June 2011)

The US Chamber of Commerce's Institute for a Competitive Workforce has unveiled Partnership is a Two-Way Street: What It Takes for Business to Help Drive School Reform. The report outlines the efforts within three communities to improve public education through substantive business involvement. (June 2011)

The Public Education Network has just released An Appeal to All Americans from its National Commission on Civic Investment in Public Education. The commission, comprised of top education and philanthropic leaders, is calling with new urgency for an increase in the nation's commitment to and civic investment in public education. (June 2011)

The American Enterprise Institute has published The Case for Being Bold: A New Agenda for Business in Improving STEM Education. This report outlines some off the ways in which business leaders can get involved in boosting STEM education outcomes, with an emphasis on nontraditional intervention models. (April 2011)
